Ghosted Campaign in response to 'A Wicked Problem'

The “Wicked Problem” design brief requires me to create a distinctive and imaginative vector illustration & typographic response to an article - “plastic superhighway: the awful truth of our hidden ocean waste”.

To respond to this brief I created a campaign called 'Ghosted'. 'Ghosted' aims to draw attention to and call for action of people to dispose of their fishing gear (also known as 'ghost gear') responsibly. Ghost gear accounts for 10% of all plastic waste in the ocean so it is a huge, but generally unspoken issue.

The main illustration is designed to look like a seal even though the reality is just a strategic tangle of fishing line and gear. This is to allude to a sense of danger, and death of marine life caused by ghost nets.
